Trade Volunteers Help Build Home for U.S. Veteran Tony Chobanov

9Recently, FSN was lucky enough to be involved in a heartwarming project building a new house for U.S. veteran Tony Chobanov. The new home was made possible by A Soldier’s Journey Home, a program that builds brand new homes for veterans like Tony.

For over 10 years, Tony has struggled with the effects of TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) due to his time in combat. His conditions have made it difficult for him to hold a job, and most of the family’s money goes toward rent, leaving very little to live on. Through A Soldier’s Journey Home, Tony was selected to be the recipient of this brand new, rent-free home.

The construction project was partially funded through a service grant provided by our associates at Painters District Council No. 30. Trade volunteers donated their time and took care of all the drywall, painting, and priming of the new home, within a two-day period. Through the diligent effort of volunteers, the entire house was completed and ready for the Chobanov family in just 10 days.

Steve Kulovits, Director of Business Development at FSN, worked with PDC 30 to gather over 30 volunteers to complete the priming, drywall, and finishing needs for the new home. Steve oversaw this entire phase of the project over the weekend of May 13 and 14.

“We’re extremely excited to have been involved with such a meaningful project,” said Steve. “The Chobanov family, Tony and Abby, are extraordinary people and were most definitely deserving of this grant.”

FSN would like to thank all of the volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to help out the Chobanov family. It couldn’t have been done without you!
